The 15th edition of CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks for Pennsylvania can help policymakers and other stakeholders in the workers’ compensation system identify current cost drivers and emerging trends in payments, prices, and utilization of medical services among nonhospital and hospital providers. It also shows how medical payments per claim and their cost components in Pennsylvania compared with the other study states (Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin). The study covers the time period of 2007 to 2012, with claims' experience up through March 2013. Findings from other WCRI reports are also provided to give the reader a deeper understanding of other aspects of the Pennsylvania workers’ compensation system, such as narcotics use and worker outcomes.
