October 1, 2014 Related Topics: Medical Costs, Utilization, CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks

The 15th edition of CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks for New Jersey can help policymakers and other stakeholders in the workers’ compensation system identify current cost drivers and emerging trends in payments, prices, and utilization of medical services among nonhospital and hospital providers. It also shows how medical payments per claim and their cost components in New Jersey compared with the 15 other study states (Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin). The study covers the period of 2007 to 2012, with claims' experience through March 2013. Findings from other WCRI reports are provided to give the reader a deeper understanding of other aspects of the New Jersey workers’ compensation system, such as narcotics use and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) facility payments.
