Medical payments represent the largest share of workers' compensation claim costs on a  per claim basis in Minnesota. This 15th edition of the CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks study focuses on how various metrics of workers’ compensation medical benefits in Minnesota have changed over time and how Minnesota compares with the other study states (Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin). The study covers the time period of 2007 to 2012, with experience through March 2013. The study also provides findings from other WCRI reports to give the reader a deeper understanding of other aspects of the Minnesota workers’ compensation system, such as narcotic use and longer-term use of opioids.
