The 15th edition of CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks for Louisiana can help policymakers and system stakeholders identify current cost drivers and emerging trends. The study examines medical costs, prices, and utilization in Louisiana and compares them with 15 other states (Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin). The study also examines how these metrics of medical costs and care have changed over time from 2007 to 2012 (evaluated in 2013). Findings from other WCRI reports are provided to give the reader a deeper understanding of other aspects of the Louisiana workers’ compensation system, such as longer-term use of opioids and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) facility payments.
