This 15th edition of CompScope™ Benchmarks study tracks the provisions of Senate Bill (SB) 863 (effective January 1, 2013) and describes some early impact of several of the reform provisions. The study reports on income benefits, overall medical payments, costs, use of benefits, duration of disability, litigiousness, benefit delivery expenses, timeliness of payment, and other metrics. It also compares the performance of the California workers’ compensation system with 16 other states (Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin). The study primarily covers the time period of 2008 to 2013, for claims with experience through March 2014.
