Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features WCRI’s release of a new edition of its CompScope Medical Benchmarks report, which examined the Wisconsin system and found that after years of modest changes, medical payments per claim for injured workers in the state grew 6% per year from 2021-2023.
WCRI noted that the study will be a useful benchmark to understand the impact of recently passed legislation to enact a fee schedule for hospital reimbursements, once it goes into effect. The study also provides an overview of how recent system changes, shifts in the composition of workers’ comp claims, and external factors like the economy, inflation, and medical care have affected medical payments and treatment since 2018, some of which were prompted or accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The specificstudy in question is CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks for Wisconsin, 2025 Edition. You can find more information, including details on how to get a copy, elsewhere on our website!
