Waltham, MA, October 13, 2026— Medical payments per claim were stable in Minnesota in 2025, according to a recently released study by the Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI). This stability follows two years of cost increases.

“Minnesota is unusual among the study states in that medical costs per claim remained stable in 2025,” said Sebastian Negrusa, WCRI vice president of research. “This stability is partly due to changes in the state fee schedule, but there are a number of other factors.”

The report, CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks for Minnesota, 2026 Edition, helps policymakers and system stakeholders identify cost drivers and emerging trends in medical payments, prices, and utilization among nonhospital and hospital providers. It compares Minnesota with 26 other states and analyzes recent changes through 2025.
