Recently, the U.S. House Committee on Small Business held a hearing titled, “Now Hiring: How the Opioid Epidemic Affects Small Businesses."

The purpose of the hearing was to explore the effects of the opioid crisis on small businesses, specifically the decline in labor force participation rate due to the epidemic and the challenges that small businesses experience in finding qualified workers as a result. 

A couple days before the hearing, a memo was released that was written by the committee staff to the members of the committee. It included background information about the subject and mentioned our research (see below). Click here to view the memo.
