NEW DATE

Comparing Virginia's Workers' Compensation System to Other States — Thursday, June 28 from 1-2pm EDT

Join WCRI’s Senior Analyst, Carol Telles, for an in depth discussion on how Virginia’s workers’ compensation system compares to others states. Ms. Telles will be using the latest editions of CompScope™ Benchmarks and CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks, which provide the most meaningful comparisons currently available for more than 60 system performance measures for sixteen large states.  In addition to Virginia, these states include California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin—representing nearly 60 percent of the nation’s workers’ compensation benefit payments.

Questions that will be addressed:

  • What are the major cost drivers in Virginia’s workers’ compensation system?
  • How does the performance of Virginia’s workers ' compensation system compare with that of other states?
  • What are the trends seen in system performance in Virginia's workers' compensation system?
  • How do Virginia’s medical prices, payments, and utilization (per claim) differ from other states for similar injuries and workers?
